Achilles Tendinitis

Achilles tendinitis is an overuse injury of the Achilles tendon. A band of tissue that connects calf muscles behind the lower leg to heel bone. Most commonly occurs in runners after increased intensity or duration of activity. Also common in middle-aged people and usually caused by sports activity. Achilles tendinitis can be treated with with at-home care under doctor's supervision. More serious cases may lead to tendon ruptures that may require surgical repair.
